Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
Quite free, actually.
There are postcards in many different sizes and the level of formality varies a lot in this text type, so it's basically a free text that would fit ANY postcard of your choice.

Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
Ok well here's my attempt that probably isn't what you're looking for:
Hey Forum Reader!
I just had a great idea when I was in the shower the other day. But Wicked rejected me and didn't want to hear it . So this would obviously be a way to raise funds. What it is, is a tournament called "Have a Hearrrt". It would be a hearts tournament followed by a mystery box auction (because people go crazy for those and pay like 80K for things worth 10K). So if you like my idea just write me back.
-Chipps
So obviously we would take as many people as possible and make them pay an entrance fee (will be decided). We will also allow other people in the house for the auction/ to be backups. If a person leaves, one of us will join the table, play as we normally would, but it wouldn't be a part of the score. How it would work is we set up a private table in my house and each player plays 3 games against different people. The top 16 (I'm assuming we get that many) will advance and we will set up 4 tables. The winners of those tables go to the final table and play for 1st prize, and 2nd,3rd, etc. Then after all the shenanigans are over, we'll have a mystery box auction in which we will use prizes of various values (Uselsss trinkets- maybe a few boats?) in presents and auction them off. The bidding will start at 5K with 1K minimum increases. I've found these largely successful and in the case that the hearts tournament doesn't earn that much this will be good insurance.

Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
well Chippy that is very similar to the poker tourny we are trying to plan out... and i didn't "reject" ye... i don't even remember ye mentioning it. it isn't a bad idea just a lot of planning/organizing... getting the rules set in stone to please as many people as possible (not as easy as one would think)...

Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
shushing me because you're sailing counts as brutal rejection in my book
EDIT: Also, a hearts tournament is way easier to plan out than a poker tournament, even though poker is more fun with hearts once a person loses, they have no way of getting back in, but in poker, there is a possibility that some idiot will try to rebuy into the game.

Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
Hmm let's see. My idea for an event is the um.. something to do with fruit, um.. to celabrate the new foraging puzzle maybe.
Maybe a fruit race, maybe to take place on a tuesday for free foraging. Possibly teams of a certain amount have to forage as much fruit as possible and then race to a location, who ever has the most fruit wins. proceeds of fruit would go to flag, or a percentage or whatever. Could give a certain amount of points to each type of fruit, i.e mango 1, pommegranate 2. Highest score wins.
Or to eliminate the need for a tuesday, each person could leave the dock with an empty sloop, bar rum and cbs. Winner is one with most fruit at end, must be gained by battling others.
Or another random idea which eliminates the need for PP, design a new friut. each person must describe and draw they're new and original fruit.
Or we could have a dress like a fruit thing. A pannel of judges judge each persons fruit themed outfit.
Or, stealing this idea from a previous flag (their's was with bots though), your day with a fruit. Basically you write a short story detailing your day spent with the fruit of your choice.
(I just so happened to win this event in the previous flag)
After careful analys, i have determined that other than the first two, none of these will make any money, in which case i shall implement the well known entry fee. Also most of them depend on how many people enter.
The benefits of my ideas are: you don't need to know how to play poker. Some will run longer than a few hours meaning more people are able to enter.
Disadvantages: for the first idea, having teams would mean giving prizes to more people.
As for prizes, i figure fruit themed things like crates o' limes and such.
I realized i haven't said why i want these events to be run. Well, i like fruit. Fruit is an excellent source of many vitamins and such. If we all ate more, maybe a little know island beginning with Admiral Island or Lincoln or Greenwich (i love greenwich), depending on what you call it, wouldn't be so unfit.
Also, the foraging puzzle is a great puzzle, mainly because i jump from leg to GM in it.

Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
This is an idea i had ages ago in an older crew, i forget which, so mostly its all pretty much set to go. It really has nothing to do with puzzle pirates and has no purpose, can't really get any money from it, it would just be for fun.
The idea is to host a tournament where noone does anything, we just see who happens to win lol. I would make whichever pirates would be entering on the character creation mode on a fighting game called Soul Calibur 3 and stick them in control of the computer in match after match until someone turns out as the winner. I have already made a few characters (Me, Krynda, Anamii, Bovril) but most of the rest people won't recognise, and theres a maximum to the number of characters i can make (i think its 10) but its amusing to see cartoon pirates hopelessly remade as realistic 3D characters

Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
Rofl, K edited mine, changing some of my words to names of islands. and adding an afro to my above post i see.
Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
Yes -- I only edited Anamii's as a little long running joke between us -- nobody else has been edited...
AND THE AWARD GOES TO......
After pondering and re-reading Chipps and Anamii's postcards a few times, the winner is Chipps .
We needed a PP-based F&F idea. Although Anamii's might have been more original IF it had been more explicit, it was not explicit enough for its originality to win over the practical side.
But she will be awarded a card and her idea will be the basis of our next writing event.
DO WRITE PEOPLE!!!

Re: WRITE US A POSTCARD!
I have always been known for sex discrimination , gender discrimination , ____ (fill in the gap) discrimination or whatever is politically correct to call it discrimination.
Shall I write 'He's a man' in your postcard instead of what it was meant to be, ?
P.S. What about my avatar? Blue, violet and feline....?
